How To Make Raisins – Science Project For Kids Free Printable

The weather is quickly cooling, but there may still be some sunny days left to try out this fun – and edible – science experiment! I also love the idea of teaching about harvest so this is a great application to learn about enjoying the rewards of hard work.

My girls and I had a wonderful time experimenting with some cute tiny grapes we found at a farmer’s market. We brainstormed what we could do with them and our first thought was… make raisins!

This is a simple lesson about food preservation and harvesting the fruit of your labor. We were studying Galatians 6:9 the week we made our raisins, so as we were picking the grapes we said it this way: “Let us not become weary in picking grapes for at the proper time we will reap a harvest of raisins if we do not give up!” It was a very practical and hands-on application of the verse. I’m starting to look for opportunities to apply the verses we are learning in this way more often. I am seeing how helpful it is for my girls for the scriptures to really sink in – and it’s helpful for me too!

We had such a great time with this activity that I decided to make a lesson pack for other families to use with their PK1 kids. I’ve made different worksheets for preschool, kindergarten and first grade students so you can choose what’s best for your child.
